When 2 artists (1 an actual artist & the other a Wedding Cake designer) come together to create a masterpiece.
My dear friend, Martie Koegelenberg, requested a “blank canvas” cake to paint a show stopper piece for her mom’s birthday (a few years back).
My oh my, what a sight to behold when I had to give Martie my final stamp of approval!
My admiration for Martie’s skill and passion made visible, far exceeded my expectation.
Keep in mind, that Martie has never painted on a cake before, thus challenging her hand pressure against the cake. The actual canvas of fondant is also vastly different to what Martie is accustomed to. Fondant tends to undergo a state of change due to certain environmental factors like heat and humidity. It was also the first time my dear friend “painted” with gel-based media.
